Justice is being lost in translation: Surrey researchers build AI to transcribe UK Supreme Court hearings
The system, trained on 139 hours of hearings, cut transcription errors by up to 9% against leading commercial tools. A prototype interface lets users click a paragraph of a judgment and watch the matching exchange, with a reported F1 score of 0.85 for the linking. The tool has drawn interest from the UK Supreme Court and the National Archives. Read the press release on the University of Surrey news site.
